A Message from the CEO

June 14, 2017

Dear Friends of Starved Rock Lodge:

I am writing to you today because I want you to know how much we value your business and hope you are planning to come back again very soon.

Over the past year, we have had a huge increase in the number of people that want to enjoy this beautiful, one-of-a-kind park. Mother Nature has, at times, flooded us with her love, literally. Spring rains caused flooding, forcing the lower parking lots to close which led to parking issues and several thousand hikers have discovered our beauty.  These things have resulted in having to temporarily close the park for a few hours at times as parking was at capacity.

Starved Rock Lodge guests are always guaranteed parking if they have reservations for the following: overnight stay, trolley tours, guided hikes or dining. Wedding guests and other event attendees are guaranteed parking as well. Our Veranda grill is open seven days a week with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Parking is held for those who would like to enjoy the great outdoors with a beer and a burger.

In order to uphold our promise, we’ve had to implement parking control measures. Everyone with a reservation is emailed a parking pass in advance on peak weekends. We have added a gate to enter the hotel parking lot on the west side of the Lodge as well as had security guards at the main entrance to the property. Let the guard know you are coming to dine or you are here for an event and they will let you in. We are making every effort to have parking available for our Lodge guests.

We are working with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to figure out a way to offer more parking for hikers so that our lots will remain open for Lodge guests. In the meantime, we want to assure you that we are committed to creating a great experience for our guests. Your parking place is waiting; we hope you come see us soon!

Sincerely,

Amy Trimble, CEO
