Wildflowers of Starved Rock

Hunting Info

During the hunting season, the Visitor Center and Starved Rock Lodge will remain open. Hiking trails from St. Louis Canyon to Wildcat Canyon will also remain open.

November 19, 20, 21, 2010 (First Season)

December 2, 3, 4, 5, 2010 (Second Season)

Muzzleloader Deer Season

December 10, 11, 12, 2010

Late Firearm Deer Season

What this means for hikers:

Portions of Starved Rock & Matthiessen State Parks will be closed for hunting on the dates listed above, however, portions of the parks are still open and safe for hiking.
All paths east of Wildcat Canyon will be closed. However, you can still hike to the top of Starved Rock as well as to the following canyons: Wildcat, French, Aurora,
Sac, Kickapoo, and St. Louis Canyons. Along the River Trail, you can safely hike to Lover's Leap, Eagle Cliff Overlook, Beehive Overlook, and Pontiac Canyon.
