Find all the woodcarvings in our "Art in the Park" collection. The FISH (shown above) is located on the Veranda at Starved Rock Lodge. Free, self-guided tour maps are available at our front desk.

Go Hiking! A must-do hike is to the top of Starved Rock. There are two bluffs to the east of that (Lover's Leap & Eagle Cliff). Pick up a park map at the Lodge or at the Visitor Center. Remember to bring a bottle of water on your hike. Stop by the Visitor Center to learn more about the easiest hikes for beginners.

Learn about Abe Lincoln -- Illinois is the "Land of Lincoln". At Starved Rock, you can see a woodcarving of Honest Abe in our Hotel Lobby. You can rub his nose for good luck! The bronze plaque is located behind the Visitor Center (stop on your way to the top of Starved Rock). In the Visitor Center, you can take home a great ABE souvenir. Take a shiny penny and 2 quarters and put them in the stamping machine at Trailheads. Select your favorite Starved Rock graphic and turn the crank to change a penny into a keepsake!

Spend some time at the Visitors Center. Watch the videos on Starved Rock! There are 3 free videos you can watch at the Starved Rock Visitor Center. You will learn about the history of Starved Rock Lodge, Starved Rock State Park and more! Check out the hands-on exhibits like the scale model of Fort St. Louis. See the fish that live here. Learn about the wildlife that lives in the park.
