2010 Win a Dream Wedding Contest!
Imagine yourself surrounded by the beauty of nature as you and your beloved take your solemn vows before 30 friends and family members gathered to celebrate your special day with you at Starved Rock's Canyonside Cabin and Courtyard. Now imagine that the ceremony venue, the officiant, the photography, the hors d'oeuvres, and the Wedding Cake are FREE! We can make that happen for you with our 2nd annual "Win A Dream Wedding at Starved Rock" giveaway! Here's how: Put pen to paper and write your heart out, telling us why you'd like to have your dream wedding at Starved Rock. A brilliant, moving, well-written 500-word essay could be your ticket to a memorable and FREE ceremony in one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in Illinois.
Nestled along the Fox Canyon, this intimate outdoor site can accommodate up to 30 of your closest family and friends. A winding, paved walkway, bordered by several natural stone benches leads you and your guests to the ceremony site: The Courtyard. Once you enter the Courtyard, flagstone steps lead to an elevated stone terrace featuring antique lighting, where your guests will be seated among nature's beauty as they share in your special moment. In the event of inclement weather, your ceremony will take place in the charming and rustic Canyonside Cabin before a cozy log-and-stone fireplace.
The competition begins November 1, 2009 and ends at noon on Friday, April 30, 2010. The winner will be announced on May 5, 2010, and the wedding ceremony must take place before December 31, 2010. Official Rules, Terms and Conditions: To Enter: Complete a minimum 500-word essay stating why you want to hold your dream wedding at beautiful Starved Rock. Submit, along with essay, a 5x7 or smaller photo of the wedding couple. Winner has to submit an electronic photograph. Only one entry per wedding couple. Additional entries will be disqualified. Mail essay and photo to Route 178 & Rt. 71, Utica IL 61373 ATTN: Sales, or email essay and photo to jsmith@starvedrocklodge.com or drop off information in person to the Sales & Catering Office at Starved Rock Lodge. Eligibility: Giveaway is open to permanent legal residents of the United States of America. Participants must be 21 years of age or older. Employees and their families are not eligible. Drawing: Winning couple will be selected by a panel of five anonymous judges on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. The decision of the anonymous judges will be final and binding. Actual odds depend on number of entries received. Winning couple will be notified via phone and email. If the winning couple does not respond to email or phone notification within 10 working days, an alternative winner will be selected. Giveaway Use: Wedding ceremony must take place before December 31, 2010. Wedding date is subject to Lodge and vendor availability. Prizes cannot be modified in anyway, no discounts or substitutions are allowed, and there will be no cash awards in lieu of these prizes. Release of Liability: By entering the Giveaway, entrants accept and agree to these rules and the decisions of Starved Rock Lodge and judges. Winning couple will be required to select the ceremony date within 10 working days of notification. If date is not selected, giveaway will be forfeited. Entry into the giveaway gives Starved Rock Lodge permission to use the names, essays, and images of the participants for promotional purposes without compensation. Winners are required to sign a release form allowing Starved Rock Lodge to use names, essay and images for promotional uses. General: Starved Rock Lodge will provide an adequate backup ceremony location in case of inclement weather. Wedding couple may invite up to 30 guests. Giveaway package does not include marriage license. Wedding couple will need to apply for and obtain marriage license in Ottawa, Illinois, at LaSalle County Clerks Office, (815) 434-8202. All decoration setup and tear down are the responsibility of the wedding couple. Contest runs Sunday, November 1, 2009 through Friday, April 30, 2010. Wedding cake topper not included with giveaway. Courtyard and Canyonside Cabin are available from 10am-6pm. Ceremony start times are (choose one): 1pm, 2pm or 3pm. Cancellation: Cancellation of the wedding forfeits rights to the giveaway. Giveaway Includes: Table and chair setup Linens, china and glassware Dressing room for bride Officiant for ceremony. Information form pertaining to ceremony and contact information for the Officiant will be given to the wedding couple. Wedding couple must consult with Officiant prior to ceremony. Dress rehearsal must be scheduled in advance with Sales & Catering Office. Photographer and a CD of 50+ photos and one 8x10 keepsake photo. Bridal floral bouquet and coordinating groom's boutonniere. Winning couple will choose from 5 floral selections. A consultation with the florist, Mary Mecum of Mary's Special Touch Floral Studio in LaSalle, Illinois, will be required. Winning couple will receive florist contact information. Hair and makeup for the bride. A consultation with Neil Pleskovitch of Luscious Moi Salon in LaSalle, Illinois, will be required. Wedding and anniversary cake are created by the Lodge in-house baker, Joyce O'Hare. Wedding knife and server will be provided solely for cake cutting photos. Fruit punch, ice water and freshly brewed regular and decaf coffee. Five hors d'oeuvres prepared by the Lodge kitchen staff all under the direction of Chef Charlie, Executive Chef of Starved Rock Lodge.
