Start Your Park Experience Here

Starved Rock State Park is Illinois’ greatest treasure, you must experience it for yourself! You will never guess beauty like this exists in Illinois! We suggest starting your visit to Starved Rock by going to the Visitor Center to learn about the history of this beautiful park and how it became known as Starved Rock. From there, stop in at Trailheads Snacks & Souvenirs for an Artisan ice cream cone, a piece of fudge in any of the many flavors we make, or a hot sandwich. Grab a drink and you’re ready for your hike!

Exit the Visitor Center and take a hike to the top of Starved Rock. See the beauty from above as you explore the sights of the Illinois River and Lovers Leap. After your hike to the top of Starved Rock, just 150 steps away, is the Lodge with its awe inspiring two-sided fireplace, the largest in Illinois! The Lodge has so much to do, you won’t want to leave so why not stay the night?
